As mentioned in an earlier post, the schedule was limited this evening with only one match taking place which was the Consolation semi-final between Demyan Plakhov and Phong Co. Demyan jumped out to a 5-0 1st set lead before Phong Co slowly climbed back to make it 5-4. Demyan would hold on to grab the 1st set 6-4. In the 2nd set, despite some great rallies that Phong extended, it was Demyan who was winning the crucial points in nearly every game. With the timely wins, Demyan was able to succeed and advance to the Consolation Finals with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Phong Co.
This leads us to Semi-Final Saturday as both the Open and Women’s Draws will have the finalists determined by the end of the evening. Below is the schedule for tomorrow afternoon:
2:00 PM:
- Demyan Plakhov vs Frank Zhang (Open Draw Consolation Finals)
- Silvie Joly vs Becky Hawkes (Women’s Draw Consolation Finals)
4:00 PM:
- #1 Grant Gibson vs #14 Ryan Chan (Open Draw Semi-Finals)
6:00 PM:
- #2 Austin Flannigan vs #9 Tarek Samhan (Open Draw Semi-Finals)
- #2 Alana Gibson vs Jane Yang (Women’s Draw Semi-Finals)
Saturday will also be the last day that the bar is open with wine, beer and cider available for consumption.
Finally, in between the 4:00 and 6:00 matches, we will be ordering pizza from San Marino’s. If interested, please bring some cash and we will take your order.
